KIIT School of planning and Architecture, Bhubaneswar hosted two expert lecture sessions, one on ‘’Shades of Urban Design in Architectural Projects” by Prof. Manu Mahajan, Head of the Department, Department of Urban Design, School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi and the other one on “Evolution of Bhubaneswar” by Prof. Somyendu Shankar Ray, Director General, KIIT School of Architecture and Planning, on 5 th of February 2024. Prof. Manu Mahajan along with a group of 20 students from the Urban Design Department, SPA New Delhi visited KSAP while they were here in Bhubaneswar for their city studio exercise. The KSAP M.Arch students of Batch 2023-25 prepared and presented a compilation of their study work on Bhubaneswar in front of them. The KSAP M.Arch students’ presentation not only celebrated the exquisiteness of Bhubaneswar but also it was highly appreciated by the guest college students and their faculty members, as they could get a comprehensive understanding about Bhubaneswar and its layers of development. Prof. Satyam Jyoti also presented his work on Bhubaneswar, which helped the guest college students to have a deeper insight.
Prof. Manu Mahajan took a session on "Urban Sketching” before the lecture session and KSAP had organised an exhibition on Urban Sketching on the same in the Department. Urban Sketching is not merely an art form but a profound lens through which we perceive and understand the urban realm. Prof. Manu Mahajan, showcased the layers of cities and its development through intricate shades of sketches. Through the sketches, he showed that how he unravelled the cities’ architectural nuances and captured the essence of its historical heritage juxtaposed with modern developments. Prof. Mahajan’s insights shed light on the symbiotic relationship between urban spaces and the communities they serve.
